The HighRise promoters have been making a name for themselves by throwing high production events with huge, varied line-ups for the last 6 years now. Starting in Leeds at the legendary Beaverworks, the brand built it’s name off it’s varied multi-room productions celebrating all things sound system culture and has become a legendary name throughout raver circles in the city.
A natural second home for the brand became Bristol. Where they have been operating since 2016, running events in multiple venues across the city. Off the back of its success in Bristol, HighRise has now opened its very own venue, ‘The Boxing Gym’. HighRise have now run three sold out events between August 2019 and New Years Eve 2020 with their next event at the venue set for 15th February for HighRise Valentines and is set to be another sell-out.
The venue is a working boxing gym and youth club that HighRise now has a license to run events in, with funds from the parties helping support the venue and allow it to operate as a gym and youth club.
The Boxing Gym offers a completely unique events space for the HighRise productions and allows them to live up to their full potential. With 5 arena’s including a gymnasium, a canteen, a hostel style bunk bed room and two, tented outdoor arenas all hosting DJ’s & Live Music throughout the night the Boxing Gym events offer a broad range of music, in and amongst mind bending decor and high quality production throughout the night.
Organisers prefer to describe the events at the Boxing Gym spaces as festivals over club nights and encourage partygoers to arrive early, with last entry being at 10pm in order to enjoy the full HighRise experience.
As usual for HighRise events, the Décor and production sets the venue apart from a party in a gymnasium and takes you too a different world completely. From low, cammo-net ceilings in the jungle room, to walk about characters interacting with the audience.
Whilst HighRise was launched in Leeds, this new venture is Bristol to its core. Supporting the local community by providing new funding for projects that could have otherwise been at threat, offering pitches to local food traders in the area, boasting a lineup full of Bristol’s finest talent and producing the event with local crews such as NSL and Firmly Rooted Soundsystem.
HighRise Valentines is just around the corner and once again it’s shaping up to be another incredible production with the likes of Bristol legend Break headling the bill for the D&B arena all the way to Matuki & Suntou Susso an energetic Afrobeat/Jazz band in the live arena. Sound as always, is provided by a selection of the best in the game, from Bristol based NSL’s incredible Void Array & RC1’s RC Audio all the way to the legendary Channel One and Sinai Sound System (ear protection recommended!) this event is looking like the perfect post-date party for any bass lovers this valentines day
